Top CBD Oil Vape Pen Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Reading time – 6 minutes

Vaping CBD has become one of the most popular ways to get benefits from it. It’s easy to see why. It’s convenient, discrete and fast-acting. You can throw a vape pen in your purse or backpack and be on your way!

It also has a high bioavailability. That's the degree and rate at which the CBD oil enters your bloodstream. With vaping, it's through the lungs, so it starts working within 5 – 10 minutes.

Even though vaping is a pretty straightforward way to get the benefits of CBD, there are still some mistakes people can make when vaping. We’re going to cover them for you so that you can avoid them and get on your way to wellness with CBD!

Not Doing Your Research

This is the most crucial step when considering taking CBD with vaping. And you’re obviously taking or considering taking it because you're reading this right now!

Because of the rise in popularity of vaping CBD in the U.K., there are a lot of different brands popping up. Many are following regulations, but you still need to be on the lookout for those who aren’t.

There are things you should look for when checking out different brands online. One of the first things should be a certificate of analysis (COA). A COA means that the brand had its CBD formulas tested and approved by a third-party. You know you're getting what the company is telling you is in there. Amphora is committed to transparency, and that's why we list our certificates of analysis right on our website

Vaping CBD Oil

Vaping regular CBD oil is a common mistake that can be really easy to make. What you need to know to avoid it is that CBD oil is not the same as CBD vape oil. CBD oil that comes in a tincture is usually really thick and almost impossible to get heated to the point of vapour. The result is often virtually no vapour and a bad taste and smell.

CBD vape oil is made specifically to be heated up into a vapour. At Amphora, we use CBD distillate for our formulas because it includes all of the benefits of the cannabis plant with no THC. We'll talk more about this later.

Vaping Hemp Oil

If you’re just starting with vaping and CBD in general, it can be a bit confusing as to what part of the cannabis plant is the part that you want. Without doing your research, it can be easy to get confused between terms like cannabinoid, hemp, cannabis and CBD. People think that hemp oil and CBD oil are interchangeable, but they're definitely not.

Hemp oil or hemp seed oil is made from hemp seeds which have no active levels of cannabinoids, so it would have almost no CBD in it. It does have some benefits and is often used in skincare products. However, vaping it means you wouldn't get any of the benefits of CBD though.

Using CBD Oil with Dangerous Additives

Additives are one of the most important things you need to be considering when you're buying CBD vape oil. Some brands use thinning agents to make the CBD oil easier to vape likepropylene glycol (PG), polyethylene glycol (PEG) and vegetable glycerin. When some of these are heated between 243oC to 248oC, they can create dangerous compounds  that are not good for you to inhale. Vitamin E acetate was has been linked to the primary cause of the health risks associated with vaping according to the Centres for Disease Control (CDC).

Amphora uses CBD distillate with terpenes for our vape oil, which is organic. We don’t use any types of solvents or carrier oils in our products. With CBD distillate, you get the best elements of the whole cannabis plant and terpenes. Terpenes are organic compounds produced by plants that produce taste and aroma, which have many wellness benefits on their own.

Using A Poor Quality Vape

Vapes come in a variety of sizes, styles, and of course, prices. It can be tempting if you’re just starting to go with something on the cheaper side. While you shouldn’t have to go crazy with your credit card when buying your vape, you also should make sure you’re buying a good quality vaping device.

Amphora's vapes are designed to be safe, durable and extremely power efficient, so you know you're getting a quality product.

Not Taking Care of Your Vape

Your vape is like any device you purchase. You need to take care of it!

Make sure you’re keeping your vape clean. Wipe the vape down, especially the mouthpiece. Rinse out your chamber and keep it sanitized each time you put a new CBD vape oil in there. It's recommended to purchase a case you can carry and keep your vape in. A convenient case adds another way to keep it clean, safe and where you can find it at all times.

Don't forget to charge your battery. It can be a real pain when you're all set to vape your CBD and you have to wait to charge your inhaler device.

Not Choosing the Right Type of CBD Oil

When you're choosing CBD oil there isn't just one size fits all. There are different ways that the CBD oil is extracted to include specific elements of the plant so you can get added benefits.

When all of the elements of the plant work together to give you even better results than using CBD on its own, it's called the entourage effect.  You can find this in full-spectrum, broad-spectrum or distillate products, which Amphora uses as we mentioned before.

Full-spectrum, Broad-spectrum or distillate products are the most popular forms of CBD oil for those who want to get the benefits of the entourage effect. Full-spectrum contains all of the wonderful natural elements found in the cannabis plant including CBD, other cannabinoids, essential oils, terpenes and flavonoids. It also has only small amounts of THC, the psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. The THC will be no more than 0.2% in full-spectrum CBD oil to be legal in the U.K. Broad-spectrum has all the same elements and benefits as full-spectrum, but has been further refined to remove all the THC.

Research has shown that CBD full-spectrum and broad-spectrum produced better effects for those who used it. It amped up the benefits of CBD because of the other components of the plant included in full-spectrum and broad-spectrum like terpenes and fatty acids.

There is also the option of CBD isolate, which is considered to be the purest form of CBD because it has all other ingredients from the plant removed, leaving just the CBD. In its extracted form it looks like a powder and can be easily added to liquid. There is also broad-spectrum CBD oil. This kind of CBD has lots of elements of the plant except it has no THC.

Hopefully, some of these tips can help you with your vaping knowledge. Vaping is all about how you want to experience CBD in your own way. With this handful of tips, you should be able to add vaping CBD to your wellness routine easily.
