Vaping 101: How to Use A CBD Vape Pen

Reading time -6 minutes

Vaping and CBD are a perfect match. It’s because it offers one of the easiest and most effective ways to take CBD. That's why it has become such a colossal wellness trend in the UK.

Newcomers to the vaping world can easily be overwhelmed by the amount of equipment, brands, and information. An excellent place to start is knowing that you need a vaping device and something to put in there. We break down everything else you need to know in our Vaping 101 guide.

How Does a Vape Work?

Vaporizing sounds pretty intimidating – especially when it comes to putting something in your body. It’s a pretty simple tool to understand, and choosing the right product is very safe. Typically vaporizers are made up of four parts.

Battery: This is pretty self-explanatory, but it's what powers your vaping device. The good news is that these batteries can usually be changed and come with a charging device.

Atomizer: This is the heating element inside the device that speeds up the molecules inside the liquid you put in your vape to produce vapour.

Mouthpiece: The mouthpiece provides the path for your vapour to travel from the chamber into your mouth.

Chamber: The chamber is the area of the vape that holds your vaping material.

Each vape pen varies, but with most, you fill the chamber with your CBD vape oil or distillate and then press the button to activate it. The atomizer heats the oil to the point where it becomes a vapour for you to inhale it. This action of inhalation lets the CBD enter your bloodstream and start kicking into action!

CBD Vape Oil

There are lots of terms for what you put in your vape pen, and these aren't always very clear when you're starting. One of the crucial things to know is that CBD oil is different than CBD vape oil.

You should not put pure CBD oil right into your vape pen. CBD oil is typically mixed with a carrier oil for ease of digestion. These carrier oils can seriously damage your vape pen, and depending on the type of carrier oil could damage your lungs. Amphora only uses CBD distillate with organic terpenes in our CBD oil.

CBD distillate is designed for inhalation devices. Terpenes are found in the cannabis plant itself and have a bunch of benefits on their own. They also help CBD enter your bloodstream faster and make the effects last a bit longer.

You can also get the benefits of the whole plant in your CBD product that produces something called the entourage effect. The entourage effect is when hundreds of compounds from the plant interact with your body. When people use CBD distillate, we take in various botanical elements. They interact with one another and may change depending on how they mix. It maximizes the benefits of CBD.

Pros of Vaping

CBD Bioavailability

Vaping gets the job done quickly. That’s all thanks to its bioavailability. Bioavailability is the degree and rate at which CBD absorbs into your bloodstream. We want CBD to reach our bloodstream so it can start working with our naturally occurring endocannabinoid system (ECS).  This system is responsible for maintaining balance in our body or homeostasis. This regulates things like stress, pain, mood and sleep.

Taking CBD oil drops or edibles would have a low bioavailability. They have a low bioavailability because it has to go through your digestive system and be broken down by your liver before it enters the bloodstream. Vaping, on the other hand, has the best bioavailability. When you vape, the vapour goes into your lungs and rapidly enters your bloodstream.

Convenience

One of the best things about vaping is the ease of it. Most vaporizer designs are sleek and small so that you can store them in a purse or backpack. You can also easily order them online. With so many options out there, you can find the type of vaporizer that works best for your lifestyle.

Discrete

Vape pens offer a discrete and ease of use experience. The vapour also quickly disappears so you can enjoy without drawing too much attention to yourself.

How much should I vape?

Everybody's wellness needs are different, so there are no 'official' guidelines for how much CBD you should take. The way your body interacts with CBD depends on many things.

  • Concentration of CBD
  • Age
  • Weight
  • Metabolism
  • Height
  • Genetic Predispositions
  • Biochemistry
  • Gender
  • Overall Health
  • Tolerance
  • Medications you are taking.

Buying A CBD Vape Pen Cartridge

Like with anything that gets popular, there are a lot of knockoffs out there. Make sure you do some research before purchasing your first vape pen and CBD distillate.

One of the first things to look for is certificates of analysis (COA). A certificate of analysis means that the brand has evidence that its CBD is safe. If you can't see it on their site, ask them if they can provide it. There have been reports of some CBD  products sold that may not contain what it claims, so you should always be careful. Amphora lists all of our certificates of analysis  right on our site, so you know what you're getting.

Read online reviews about the product. Lots of brands will have them right on their website but do some research online. Look at their social media. If you’ve ever looked at a comments section on a post, you know people are not afraid to be open about how they feel.

Besides researching the safety and quality of the vape pen, make sure it’s something that suits your style! There are so many to choose from that you can definitely find one that you really love.

Vaping CBD Doesn’t Have Psychoactive Effects.

One of the biggest misconceptions about vaping CBD is that it gets you ‘high.’ CBD is non-psychoactive. Meaning it doesn't have any chemicals that produce those ‘fuzzy-headed’ side effects like THC.

Cannabis is as a controlled drug in the Misuse of Drugs Act, but CBD is not. CBD oil is legal in the UK, but the THC content must be below 0.2%.

Vaping on Your Terms

Vaping is taking the UK by storm. The great thing about vaping CBD oil is you can customize it to your own preference with your style of a vape pen, dosage and lifestyle. Amphora has different types of CBD distillate  tailored to that target specific health needs. Hopefully, you learned some tips that will help you find the best vape experience for your wellness routine.
